This has been my project, both personal and for University for a number of years. I hope to one day be able to pitch this as a series to a network and/or studio. Polishing and refining it and a show bible is going to be my ongoing personal project after graduating.
-
I made this poster to advertise my project. In making this poster, I settled on this lovely colour scheme of bright greens and cyans and dark purples and maroons.

A character turnaround for one of my lead characters.

A Lazy bartender brother and naive manager sister give shelter to a mysterious injured pilot in their failing bar to ensure his survival.

One of the pages from my sketchbook on which I experiemented with different designs for the exterior of the bar. This was done with watercolour paints and a fineliner.

A shot from my storyboard/animatic - Joshua and Pippa look over the damage to the bar from an explosion outisde

Some early doodles for Pippa and objects to decorate the bar environment, like the artifical gravity generator and several drinks glasses

This was an early design for the interior of the bar. It's the one that I decided to continue using further.
-
A shot from my storyboard/animatic. This is one of the opening shots of the animation, showing a nebula like the Pillars of Creation.
-
This was another early design I did for the interior of the bar. I rejected it because it looked too upmarket. I wanted the bar to look old and worn. I felt this would work better for a re-fit if that ever happened in the world of The Space Bar

"James was an absolute pleasure to work with and provided consistently good work with quick turnaround. He understood my needs perfectly, and I will definitely be working with him again in the future."
"James McDonald was a pleasure to work with when designing our new logo. He was professional, hard working and most importantly, did an exceptional job at a reasonable price. We are delighted with our new logo and and the process James took in creating it."

In 2nd Year, we were tasked with the ambiguous module of 'Personal Project'. It's been an ambition of mine to one day work on animating the audioplays produced by Big Finish, so I made a start by making an animatic for the first scene in one of their Doctor Who audioplays. I made all of this in the space of one month.
-
I made this poster at the end of the project as I had wanted to do something more than just the animatic for the opening scene. I like to imagine this is what a poster for the full thing may look like.
-
A character pose sheet I did for the character of the 5th Doctor.
-
A turnaround sheet (including a colour scheme) I did for the Weeping Angels in weeping position.
-
A quick background I did for the animatic, keeping details light but including enough to make everything happening in the scene clear.
-
A character pose sheet I did for the characters of Gabby and Joel Finch.
-
A turnaround sheet (including a colour scheme) I did for the priest.

A logo I made for the project that I was incredibly happy with - so much so that it's appeared on other images I've got up here!
