About Me
Hello there! My name is James McDonald and I've been animating for 13 years. Born and raised in High Wycombe and now living in Bristol.
I graduated in 2020 from the Bristol School of Animation at UWE (University of the West of England), where I was also President of the UWE Animation Society.
Since then, I've been a Junior Compositor at Sun & Moon Studios working on Hammer & Bolter.
Outside of animation and design work, I have a massive interest in Doctor Who and Musical Theatre

The Space Bar
The Space Bar has been my primary source of attention for the past year and a half. It's an idea for a TV Series that I've had for a number of years and have been working to develop a pilot for, which I aspire to be able to pitch to studios eventually.
Colourtoo
This was a film I worked on in a team of 4 during University. The objective of the module was to make a 30-60s short film suitable for a pre-school audience (2-5 Years Old). I wrote the script and took on the role of director of this project, as well as animating a large portion of it.
Bristol Pride
I was thrilled when I got asked to work on this exciting project. As an LGBT+ Identifying Individual, I was eager to work on such a worthwhile cause. It allowed me to improve my knowledge and skills in motion graphics in order to create a dynamic result I’m really proud of. I produced a number of final products ranging in style, length and aspect ratio to suit several uses.
